Recruitment of 8500 High School Teachers in WBSSC 2008

The 9th Regional Level Selection Test (RLST) is scheduled to be held on 21.12.2008 (Sunday) for preparing panel of Assistant Teachers in Recognised Non-Govt. aided Jr. High / High /Higher Secondary Schools (excluding Madrasahs) in West Bengal against the vacancies available and reported as per WB School Service Commission (Selection of Persons for Appointment to the Post of Teachers) Rules, 2007 and advertised herewith. The vacancies indicated are tentative under clause (a) of sub-rule (2) of rule 8 and the final reported vacancies in the posts of Assistant Teachers under clause (b) of sub rule (2) of rule 8 for which the RLST is being conducted shall be published during the publication of the result of the Written Test.

Eligibility: Citizens of India may apply for a single subject in Pass or in Hons. /PG Category in School (excluding Madrasah) in a particular Region only in the prescribed form available from the designated branches of United Bank of India as mentioned in the advertisement.

A. Posts in Pass Category
Qualification Essential: Bachelor’s Degree from any UGC recognized University having concerned subject as combination subject of at least 300 marks at the degree level (or 200 marks in the old 2-year Degree Course). For Pure Science subject at least any two from the group of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and for Bio. Science subject any two from the group of Zoology, Botany & Physiology must be combination subjects of atleast at the Pass Level. Special B.A. in any subject will not be accepted.

Desirable: B.T./B. Ed./P.G.B.T. or any training recognized by the State Government as equivalent to B.T. / B. Ed./P.G.B.T. from a Teachers’ Training Institution duly recognized by the NCTE in the relevant academic session.

A.1. Assistant Teachers in Physical Education

Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in General Stream of Arts/ Science/ Commerce with degree/diploma in Physical Education from a Teachers’ Training Institution duly recognized by the NCTE in the relevant academic session.

a person having the desirable qualification shall, if qualified in written examination, get preference over the candidate who has qualified in written examination but has no desirable qualification

B. Posts in Hons. /PG Category
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree with Honours or Master’s Degree in the concerned subject from any UGC recognized University. For Biological Science a candidate must have Bachelor’s Degree with Hons. / Post Graduate Degree in any of the subjects viz. Zoology, Botany & Physiology.

Desirable:
B.T./B. Ed./P.G.B.T. or any training recognized by the State Government as equivalent to B.T. / B. Ed./P.G.B.T. from a Teachers’ Training Institution duly recognized by the NCTE in the relevant academic session.

1. Age: Minimum: 20 years as on 01.01.2008 (i.e. not born after 01.01.1988)

Maximum: 37 years as on 01.01.2008 (i.e. not born before 01.01.1971)

Relaxation: Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, upto 45 years for PH candidates and upto 55 years of age for approved teaching and non-teaching Staff in recognised non-Govt. aided Jr. High / High /Higher Secondary Schools/Madrasahs and Sr. Madrasahs approved by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education/ West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education/ West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.

2. Medium of Instruction in the Institution: Vacancies are mainly in Bengali medium Schools (excluding Madrasahs). Candidates applying for School (excluding Madrasah) with particular language as medium must have that language of the medium as first or second or third language at Secondary level of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education/ West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education or from any equivalent Board or at Higher Secondary Level of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or from any equivalent Board/ Council or must have succeeded at any subsequent higher level of education in that language paper.

3. Date & Time of Test: 21.12.2008 (Sunday) at the Regionwise allotted centres all over the State for Paper I & Paper II (Time: Morning – 11.00 A.M. to 12.50 P.M. & Afternoon – 2.00 P.M. to 3.50 P.M.). VISUALLY HANDICAPPED CANDIDATES SHALL BE ALLOWED 15 MINUTES EXTRA TIME AND SEPARATE SITTING ARRANGEMENT SHALL BE MADE FORM THEM.

4. Medium of Answers: Questions will be set in English & Bengali. Answers to be given either in English or Bengali except in language papers. Candidates applying for English medium Schools shall have to write answers in English only except in language papers.

5. Fees for Examination:
Application Form and Brochure: Rs. 330 [Rs. 300+ Rs.30 (for Brochure)] and for SC/ST/PH Rs. 130 [Rs. 100+ Rs. 30(for Brochure)].

7. (a) Date of Collection of Application Form: 30.08.2008 to 13.09.2008 during Banking hours. (b) Date of Submission of Application Form duly filled in: 30.08.2008 to 13.09.2008 during Banking hours. Purchase and Submission of application form must be from and to the same designated Bank Branch under a particular Region for which it is intended.

CAUTION: BEFORE PURCHASE a candidate must be sure that he/ she fulfils all the eligibility conditions.

note:
admission to the test is purely provisional subject to verification of the candidates’ eligibility at various stages.

8. Method of Selection: Letters of Personality Test will be issued to the selected candidates on the basis of Academic Score and marks obtained in Paper I & Paper II, to the extent of not exceeding 1.5 times of the advertised final reported vacancies under clause (b) of sub rule (2) of rule 8 Regionwise, Mediumwise, Subjectwise, Genderwise and Categorywise i.e. General, SC, ST, OBC, PH.

9. Qualifying Marks in Paper I: 40% marks, relaxable by the Commission Mediumwise, Categorywise, Subjectwise, Regionwise.

10. Panel: Panel shall be prepared separately for Pass Category posts and Hons. /PG Category posts in Schools (except Madrasahs) including the names equal to the number of final reported vacancies received & advertised Regionwise, Mediumwise, Subjectwise, Genderwise, Categorywise viz. General, SC, ST, OBC, PH on the basis of Academic Score, marks obtained in Paper I, Paper II and Personality Test. Candidates equal to 0.10 times the number of said vacancies, but not figuring in the panel, shall be included in a Waiting List in order of merit. Female candidates may exercise option for Girls’ School only or any school at the time of COUNSELLING. All candidates will be considered against General (Unreserved) vacancies in terms of existing Government Orders besides being considered against respective categories and with due observation of provisions of Rules & Orders made under the WBSSC Act, 1997.
